This was our second trip as a couple. I myself (Sara) have previously been a few times before and wanted to show Luke what the city has to offer. We picked the cheapest ways of doing things, taking the coach from our local station which really isn’t bad at all. It was a nice leather seated National Express coach and does have a stop off on the way, we didn’t have any issues and it cost us £25 return for both of us.

We stayed in a lovely room that was located above a dry cleaner and the owners were so very helpful. After staying in London a few times, you get to realise that any lower budget accommodation you get isn’t a large room, so we would advise that you bare this in mind. I have personally stayed in 5 hotels and a hostel while in London and all very small rooms but this is city life we hardly spent much time at all in the room anyway as we were out seeing the city.

I’ve always stayed in Victoria as this seems to be a great central location to get to everywhere you need. It’s around a 5 minute walk to the underground and you can get a tube wherever you want to go, its very easy to navigate around the tube after a couple of trips as they’re all colour coordinated and you can pick up a mini map for free in the tube station which we found very helpful.

Before you go the best option is to order a visitors oyster card, the tubes are so cheap to use we put on £20 and we went on about ten tubes in the few days we were there. I believe it works by being scanned when you go on the tube and when you get off, so it works well for long distance as it gets capped.

If you stay in Victoria you literally have so many places around you to eat, drink, have fun. A short walking distance to most theatres.
